Storytelling Tip of the Day
Storytelling Tip #4
Stories Need Transformation. A change or revelation that the hero OR audience experiences. Harry Potter didn't know he was a wizard. When Harry ends up back at Number 4 Privet Drive at the end of the first book, the scene is the same, but he has changed. The audience didn't know that Snape was actually looking out for Harry his entire time at Hogwarts. We go through an emotional epiphany as we realize a man we've despised all along, we now love. Transformation gives stories a direction and a purpose. A base in reality, because we all know how life's events change us. Without transformation, your story won't have depth. Without transformation, why are we watching?
